Like a Dragon Gaiden bridges the gaps between Yakuza 6, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Like a Dragon 8 from the perspective of former series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. He is living in hiding under the codename Joryu as the hundredth disciple of the Daidoji Temple, carrying out missions on behalf of the Daidoji faction. In Summer, 2018, he is tasked with acting as a guard for a certain individual.
